2024. Three friends sat in a café in Windhoek, frustrated. One had just spent hours trying to find a reliable nail tech. Another couldn't find a local store that had the phone case she wanted. The third was a small business owner struggling to reach customers online.
That conversation sparked an idea: What if there was one place where Namibians could find everything they need, and where businesses—big or small—could thrive?
We started building Makit that same week. Not as a copy of international platforms, but as something designed specifically for Namibia—our payment methods, our languages, our way of doing business.
Today, we're a team of passionate Namibians working to launch the platform in February 2026. We've partnered with over 20 local businesses, processed 200+ waitlist signups, and we're just getting started.
